Performing Arts Workshops’ GUITAR CAMP (for ages 8-14) offers a very special take on teaching the acoustic guitar.   It’s unique in that it teaches children the concept of how music, live theater and performance are combined.  The campers spend their mornings in workshops, such as music theory, song writing, performance technique, ear training, and guitar technique to learn chords, tabs, picking, and strumming.  They will get to play several genres of music including classical, rock, blues, and pop while learning rhythm, group, and lead guitar.  In the afternoons they apply the techniques they learned in the morning workshops and create their own set to perform before a live audience. PAW allows only up to 10 kids in each one-week session, so the kids get a lot of individual attention.  Campers do need to bring their own acoustic guitar to camp every day.  They are allowed to additionally bring an electric guitar and mini amp to play when an electrical outlet is accessible. On the last day of each session, the children put on a show which is free and open to the family members of the campers. Performing Arts Workshops was even named BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine.  If you want more information about camp, their office staff is always there to help you at (310) 827-8827 or just visit their website – PerformingArtsWorkshops.com
